Strengthening the capacity of stakeholders in higher education to design and implement innovative educational programs that will meet the needs of today and tomorrow’s labor market.
Globalization and acceleration of the economy renders the skills of employees’ obsolete in delays that are more and more short. Companies have more and more difficulties finding employees with the skills necessary for their economic development. Budgetary constraints prevent academic institutions from designing the necessary and indispensable curriculum needed by the labor market.
The shortage of technical skills remains a major problem in most of countries, but we must keep in mind that it reflects, ultimately, inadequate skills acquired in school curricula with the needs of businesses. According to a survey conducted from experts in 36 African countries, dealing the major challenges of young people on the labor market, 54% of them notice as a major barrier to employment skills mismatches between what jobseekers have to offer and what employers require. Similarly, 41% of them notice as a major obstacle the general lack of skills among jobseekers (AEO-Country Experts Servey 2012).
The capacity building program aims to assist the educational official and leaders of academic institutions to design the highest quality curriculum to effectively support curriculum design and implementation, vocational training and life long learning. It is essential to train academic leaders (teachers, education managers, etc.) to design and develop curriculum, but also to create the learning process that will be useful for their students to better be prepared for the professional world.
